Veteran TV and Film Actor Jameel Fakhri Passed Away in Lahore: Son Nawaz Fakhri Confirmed

LAHORE, Pakistan (June 09) - - Veteran television actor Jammel Fakhir passed away in Lahore today (Thursday/June 09) after a long suffering with paralysis and other serious health issues.

Reportedly, Jameel Fakhri was having serious health problems after the sudden news his son’s death in United States. His son Ayaz Fakhri had been missing for 22 months and Pakistan Embassy in U.S. confirmed his murder after the issue was highlighted by media.

'Lok Mela' Oepns Today (June 4, 2011) in Islamabad - - Cultural Entertainment with an Opportunity to Buy Handcrafts from All of Four Provinces

The artisans-at-work festival popularly known as ‘Lok Mela’ will formally open today (Saturday, June 4) in a prestigious ceremony to be held at Garden Avenue, Shakarparian. 

Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan will inaugurate the festival at Lok Virsa Open Air Theatre.

According to Lok Virsa traditions, the festival will open with a ‘Dastarbandi/Chadarposhi’ of an established master artisan.

Hundreds of craftsmen, folk artists, rural musicians and dance groups have already arrived in Islamabad from all the provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir to demonstrate their skills for 10 days.

From Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, a contingent of over 60 people is participating in the festival. They include Khattak dance group, master artisans in specialised craft fields such as embroidery, metal work, wax printing, Shawl weaving, Khes weaving and wood works and a number of folk artists. KPK musical night will be held at Lok Virsa open air theatre on June 10. Leading folk singers and musicians such as Gulraiz Khan, Bakhtiar Khattak, Salma Naz, Ahmed Gul, Rafia Bano, Israr Khan, comedian Saeed Rehman Sheno, Khalida Yasmin, Shazma Haleem, Sher Muhammad (rubab nawaz), Khan Muhammad (tabla nawaz) and Ali (harmonium player) would perform during the Lok Mela.

Besides Khattak dancers from KPK, other folk dance groups who would entertainment visitors during the festival are Multani raqs party ‘Gatta Ghora’, Leva dance group from Balochistan and Sheedi dancers from Sindh.

The festival would provide an opportunity to the diplomatic community and residents of the twin cities to have cultural entertainment and to buy handcrafts at reasonable prices.

The craftsmen would also get a chance to sell their products.

Pride of Performance Moin Akhtar Passed Away in Karachi Today (April 22, 2011)

KARACHI – Breaking News: Legendary TV and film actor and comedian Moin Akhtar (Moeen Akhtar) has passed away at 61, confirmed by his manager Aziz Warsi.

According to details; he was suffering from heart problem since long and had stroke today. He was taken to hospital but couldn’t survive despite of all the efforts by the doctors.

Before him Mastana, and Babbu Baral has died and this is a third death of Pakistani comedian in this month of April. 

He left 6 children including 3 daughters and 3 sons. 

Moin Akhtar was born on 24th December 1950 and won Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Punjabi Stage Legend Mastana Passed Away Today in Bahawalpur

Mastana has died in Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur after a long suffering with Hepatitis C on April 11, 2011.

One of the senior most theatre actors in Pakistan Murtaza Hassan, famous with his showbiz name as Mastana, was admitted to Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur for three weeks ago.

According to latest news; Mastana lost his war against killing disease today morning in the hospital. His only son, Hafiz Saad Hassan, is studying in first year of his college.

His brother Javed Akhtar told media that his funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janazah) will be offered today in the evening after Maghrib Prayer at graveyard of Noor Shah Bukhari, Bahawalpur.  

May Allah (S.W.T) keep his soul in peace and serenity! Ameen.

All through his life Mastana spread smiles with his stage performances and spontaneous and hilarious dialogues. Mastana started his career in 1973. He performed in more than 2,000 television and stage dramas. Mastana who had been in the industry for 35 year made people laugh by his performance had now left them in grief. Mastana was widely regarded as the king of stage and theatre acting and his legacy will carry on for years.
