PCB not delaying development of pitches in Sri Lanka
ISLAMABAD, Sep 3 (APP): The delay is not on the part of Pakistan Cricket Board regarding development of three international standard turf pitches in one of Sri Lanka famous 135-year old school, a PCB Spokesman said on Thursday.“PCB wishes to clarify that the delay has not been on part of PCB”, he said, adding that PCB has been constantly in contact with Sri Lanka Cricket.
In this regard PCB has written letters to Sri Lanka cricket on 28th April, and again on 1st June, 2009 in which Sri Lankan cricket was asked to send us the details and cost structure of this project. In May 2009 Chairman Sri Lanka Cricket advised PCB that they had identified the area for laying the turf pitches and they would shortly send us a cost structure. However they have so far not provided any details PCB.
PCB again approached Sri Lanka cricket and asked them to provide us the details so that PCB may move ahead with honoring its commitment of laying these pitches.
During Chairman PCB’s Visit to Sri Lanka in August, 2009 Chairman PCB again reminded Chairman Sri Lanka Cricket to provide details to PCB. Sri Lanka Cricket Promised to provide the details.
In a recent correspondence with Sri Lanka Cricket they have again promised to get back to PCB with more details on this project very shortly.
“PCB will provide all necessary assistance as and when the requisite information is received from Sri Lanka”, the Spokesman concluded.

MCB Junior Under18 Super Hockey League - - Lahore Lions Vs. Larkana

KARACHI, Sept. 03 (APP): Lahore Lions maintained their top tempo in the inaugural MCB Junior Under18 Super Hockey League when they stemrolled Larkana 6‑2 at Hockey Club of Pakistan on Wednesday night. Lahore showed their prowess for the second time with a big win despite not scoring in 25‑minute first session.
After sluggish start, Lahore side was on a rampage banging in four goals in a space of 13 minute with Abdul Ghaffar converting back to back penalty strokes.
Captain Abdul Aleem scored in the 33rd minute on a penalty corner and Afsar in 37th minute through field effort. Arsalan Haider and Kashif Shah scored the other two goals for Lahore.
Captain Ali Noman and Taufiq Ahmed netted the goals for Engro Larkana.
Captain Asadullah struck a brace as Islamabad overcame Peshawar 3‑2 in a hot tempered match which saw as many as five yellow cards.
Asad gave Federal Capital perfect start by scoring off penalty corner in 15th minute and added his second three minute later with a field effort.
Islamabad infact took control of the match when Faisal converted a penalty stroke in the third minute of second session.
Peshawar came back strongly when Zohaib Khan made it 1‑3 by scoring on penalty corner and Umerullah slammed a field goal to reduce the deficit.
Arsalan Khan again consolidated Islamabad position by netting in 56th minutes. Though Muhammad Imran banged a goal on penalty corner in the 59th minute but failed to hit the equalizer.
Faisalabad known for their hockey talent opened in style by routing Abbotabad 3‑0.
After barren first 25 minute Muhammad Rizwan put his team ahead in 35th minutes through field goal. Mehmood scored the second in 59th minute.
Muhammad Teusiq completed the tally by scoring the third goal in 67th minute.
